GIS Specialist (40 hours per week)

CSMART is currently looking for a GIS Specialist for 40 hours per week, with a particular focus on Research & Development to support the Future Curriculum and R&D department business aims.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a GIS Specialist, you are an integral part of the CSMART team where your key responsibilities will include, yet not limited to

  • Collect data from internal and external sources for the creation of port and engineering simulator models.
  • Process data collected to build simulator models and create electronical charts and during simulation studies.
  • Design, develop and implement systems and databases to access and store geospatial data collected before and during simulations.
  • Prepare scenarios, documentation, and software tools necessary to carry out simulation studies.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of special projects as directed by the Manager Simulation Studies, adjusting dynamically to corporate operational needs.
  • Assist Manager Simulation Studies in the preparation and execution of ad hoc training events.
  • Assist as simulator operator during the execution of simulation studies
  • Contribute to report writing including data from simulation studies
  • Attend other (weekly) meetings if required for input or role
  • Keep administration, procedures and/or work instructions optimized and up to date
  • Keep abreast of evolving Geospatial software developments and in the field of maritime simulations and broader maritime industry and the operational needs of the Carnival fleet.
Requirements & Experience
  • HBO or higher degree in preferably Geospatial disciplines such as Hydrography, GIS, Surveying, Geomatics
  • At least 3 years of GIS or equivalent experience
  • Experience working within an international environment and/or for a multi-national (pre)

As a 3D & Multimedia Specialist, you are an integral part of the CSMART team where your key responsibilities will include, yet not limited to

  • Create 3D models of Ports, coastal areas, and ships’ engineering spaces.
  • Create multimodal e-learning packages to enable organizational learning from simulations studies results and multimedia products to promote the potential of simulation studies both internally and externally.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Coordinator Scheduling, you are an integral part of the CSMART team where your key responsibilities will include, yet not limited to

  • Work closely with the Director Operations and Manager operations Support on the course catalogue, course request, Consultant program and diverse operational changes.
  • Operational responsible for maintaining the annual schedule of faculty.
  • Present schedules and forms to faculty which are clear and cover all required information.
  • Coordinate the schedules of all instructors and consultants for the courses/events.
  • Coordinate and keep track of additional course/event request.
  • Work together with Course Administration in regards of scheduling of conferences and meetings.
  • Communicate changes in schedules and courses with stakeholders.
  • Update and maintain the qualifications of in-house instructors and outside instructors (instructor certificates, coaching licenses, assignments and ship visits.
  • Back up Course Administration on request of the Manager Operations support.
  • Assist in projects as requested by Manager Operations Support
  • Keep administration, procedures and/or work instructions optimize and up to date
  • Attend weekly team or project meetings.
Requirements & Experience
  • HBO level or higher degree in preferably administration.
  • Previous experience as a Planner/ Scheduler in an education environment (pre)
  • Experience working within an international environment and/or for a multi-national (pre)

  • Delivering training to ship-board technical staff
  • Delivers the course according to the CSMART course delivery process
  • Developing courses/new procedures to be implemented on board ships
  • Keeping up to date with current practices and technology
  • Liaises with the Course Administration team and other instructors to ensure everything is prepared prior to start of courses
  • Follows up with underperforming participant process
  • Restores equipment and restores any deficiencies
Requirements & Experience
  • Experience should typically be or have been in the role of 1st Engineer at minimum. Experience at Senior Engineer/Superintendent and Subject Matter Experts (SME) in Marine Engineering will be highly valuable.
  • Cruise Ship experience is highly preferred
  • Experience in teaching/instructing would be an asset

  • Liaises with the Course Administration team and other instructors to ensure everything is prepared prior to start of courses
  • Follows up with underperforming participant process
  • Restores equipment and restores any deficiencies

Requirements & Experience

  • Experience should typically be or have been in the role of Senior Engineer/Superintendent, Senior Electrical Technical Officer, Electrical Technical Officer, Subject Matter Experts (SME) Electrical/Automation Engineering
  • 1st Electrical officer or higher is preferable
  • Cruise Ship experience is preferred
  • Experience in teaching/instructing would be an asset

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of computers & networks
  • Proficient in MS Office

Language Skills

  • Fluent written and verbal English language

Personal Skills

  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Works well in a multi-cultural team
  • Ability to work unassisted
