CSMART Academy is dedicated to providing rigorous safety training for all Bridge and Engineering Officers, responsible for the navigation and operation of the world’s largest fleet of cruise ships belonging to the Carnival Corporation and plc Group.
The facility features bridge and engine room simulators utilizing the most innovative technology and training solutions in the maritime industry, modeled closely after technology and practices used in the airline and other industries.

The CSMART Academy’s team of highly experienced instructors has developed a curriculum that sets the industry standard for safety, sustainability and maritime training and keeps pace with advances in ship technology, fostering critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making and confidence.

 

 

HR Representative (40 hours per week)

CSMART, Center of Simulator Maritime Training and part of Carnival Corporation & plc. Group, uses the very latest, state-of-the-art technology and methodology. It consists of Bridge/Engine Room Full Mission & Part Task Simulators and practical Electrical Training Laboratories.

CSMART is currently looking for a Human Resources Representative for 40 hours per week, with particular focus on flow through of employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As HR Representative, you are an integral part of the CSMART team in which your key responsibilities will include:

  • Applying and administering HR programs related to our compensation & benefits packages
  • Applying and administering of HR policies and procedures
  • Creating reports on employee leave and advise/assist Directors where needed
  • Managing sick leave process with respective Directors
  • Accurate and timely preparation and administration of contract renewals and other monthly mutations
  • Cooperate with and assist the Finance department on monthly payroll
  • Cooperate with and assist with respect to the recruitment cycle
  • Assist with executing HR related tasks and projects

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3 – 5 years of previous HR experience within a company of 50+ employees
  • HBO or Diploma in the HR field

Facility Manager (40 hours per week)

CSMART is currently looking for a Facility Manager for 40 hours per week, with particular focus on building and landscape maintenance along with the safety and security matters of the CSMART property.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Facility Manager, you are an integral part of the CSMART team where your key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversees the day to day maintenance of the building and follows up on outstanding issues with the maintenance company
  • Oversees the procurement and repair of existing FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment)
  • Oversees the weekly maintenance of the landscape
  • Initiates and follows up on yearly Risk Assessment
  • Assists in developing building policies and procedures
  • Assists in security related matters at CSMART including the development and maintenance of the Security Plan
  • Performs as the Prevention worker for the company
  • Plans and oversees the outsourced cleaning and security service on a daily basis

Requirements & Experience

  • Educated at an HBO level in Facility Management  or a similar education
  • More than 3 years’ experience in a similar position

Instructor – Marine (40 hours per week)

CSMART is currently looking for an Instructor in the Marine/Nautical Training department for 40 hours per week, with particular focus on the delivery of courses to our participants in accordance with CSMART processes.

  • Delivering training in a wide variety of Nautical courses
  • Development & review of course material/contents.
  • Liaises with colleagues and supporting personnel to ensure efficiency of course delivery processes.
  • Professional development and keeping up to date with current practices and technology as per CSMART’s directions.

Requirements & Experience

  • At least 5 years of Cruise Ship experience.
  • Is currently holding the position as Senior 1st Officer/Safety Officer or Staff Captain in the cruise industry.
  • Experience in teaching/instructing in the Maritime industry would be an asset.

Hydrodynamics Engineer (40 hours per week)

Carnival Corporation & Plc. Group has allocated significant resources for conducting nautical risk assessment studies for ports from around the world. This risk assessment program is managed by the Port Study team at CSMART.

CSMART Port Study team is currently looking for a Hydrodynamics Engineer for 40 hours per week with particular focus on performing Mooring analysis studies for cruise berths.

As a hydrodynamics engineer you are an integral part of the CSMART Port Study team where your key responsibilities will include:

DUTIES  and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acquiring all the required input data for mooring analysis
  • Assessing moored ship response under environmental loading such as wind, current, waves etc
  • Generating mooring line loads, bollard forces and fender compression and reactions and ship motions
  • Determining number, type and location of mooring lines and mooring bollards required to accommodate high wind/wave events or to accommodate a passing ship
  • Determining the operational envelope for moored ship, define trigger point for putting thrusters/tugs on standby
  • Writing the mooring analysis report containing all mooring related factual information on bollards, fenders etc. and mooring simulation results
  • Presenting results to management and staff as and when needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering)
  • Mooring analysis experience is a pre
  • Experience of Optimoor, aNySIM, Orcaflex, Mike21 MA or similar mooring software is a pre
  • Basic knowledge on construction of jetties and quays
  • Familiarity with PIANC and OCIMF mooring related guidelines is a pre
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, mainly Excel
  • Proficient in technical report writing

Operator (40 hours per week)

CSMART Academy uses the very latest, state-of-the-art technology and methodology, consisting of bridge and engine room full mission & part task simulators and practical Electrical Training Laboratories. We’re currently expanding the team and looking for a full-time operator to work with our simulators and assist with the simulated exercises.

As an Operator, you are an integral part of the CSMART team. Key responsibilities include:

• Actively operating the Simulators for either Bridge or Engine
• Assist instructor with the creation of simulator exercises
• Assist Instructors with the execution of simulator exercises
• Function as Assistant Instructor for Part Task Simulator exercises

 REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

  • Fluent in English, verbal as well as written.
  • Basic experience in hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A MarOf qualification is preferred
  • Cruise Ship experience is preferred
  • Works well in multi-cultural team environments and on individual assignments
