As an Engineering Instructor, you will become a role model for Carnival’s Engineering Staff on board our ships. Your role will not just be to instruct and teach ship-board personnel, but you will also be involved in developing best practices that can be implemented on board the ships. An important element of the role will also be to visit our cruise ships from time-to-time, thereby ensuring that the teachings from the classroom and simulators are actually implemented onboard.
The people we are looking for are experienced engineers and successful candidates will typically be or have been in the not too distant past, Chief Engineer, Senior Electrical Technical Officer, Staff Chief Engineer, Senior First Engineer or First Engineer. They may currently work ship-side or considering returning to a ship in the near future. We expect all candidates to have at least 10+ years of sea time in order to have the credibility to teach others. Cruise ship experience is definitely preferred although those candidates who have instructed in engine room simulators are also encouraged to apply. Successful candidates are expected to have a passion to teach others and possess the right people skills. The working language at CSMART is English.
Given the crucialness of these roles, CSMART are prepared to offer, tailor made, competitive remuneration packages which, for non-Dutch nationals, could also include very favorable tax treatment by the Dutch tax authorities. Almere and the surrounding areas, offer excellent (international) school facilities, a wide choice of very affordable housing and a great and thriving international community consisting of people from various nationalities.
There is a great deal of flexibility with regard to the type of assignment CSMART can offer. Although there is a great preference for those who would like to relocate to Almere, either permanently or for a period of 2-3 years at a minimum, CSMART will also seriously consider other options such as commuting from/to your home country on a regular basis. Joining CSMART will prove to be a great boost to your career and will allow for fast track development to higher ranks. CSMART alumni are very marketable and the various Operating Lines that make up the Carnival Corporation are keen to hire qualified staff with CSMART experience. There are even possibilities to join as Line Instructor, which means that you can alternate periods at sea working on board Carnival Corporation ships, with periods working for and at CSMART in Almere.
